The following highlights provide an analysis of the Annual Report and Accounts of WWF-Hong Kong for the year ended 30 June 2024. The Annual Report and Accounts have been audited by Mazars CPA Limited and are prepared in accordance with the Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards.
WWF-Hong Kong’s income remained steady at HK$109.3 million in FY24. Support from individual donations declined by 10%, yet it continued to be the largest source of income, accounting for 50% of the total. Corporate donations saw a 14% increase, driven by contributions from our Corporate Membership Programme, corporate partnership on conservation initiatives, and other corporate donations. In FY24, new projects such as Sea for Future III and Flow with Nature: Building a Thriving Flow Community, together with ongoing projects like Wetland Incubator, Natural Climate Solutions – Powering Our Wetlands and Engaging Partners to Build a Climate-Resilient Greater Bay Area projects contributed to the significant increase in income from trusts and foundations. Other income mainly reflected support for our centre-based activities, school partnerships, and contribution from WWF Network for initiatives addressing illegal wildlife trade.
Total expenditure for FY24 amounted to HK$108.9 million. Conservation, along with community engagement and education, remained our major investment pillars, representing 76% of the total expenditure. We continued to strive for a strong conservation impact across various areas, including Mai Po and wetlands, oceans, wildlife, local biodiversity and sustainable finance. Additionally, we allocated 5% of our total expenditure to the WWF Network to support our global objectives.
WWF-Hong Kong will keep introducing innovative ideas and new technologies, transforming creative thoughts into practical solutions to enhance our conservation efforts and preserve our environment’s natural beauty for future generations. We will continue to leverage smart technologies to elevate wetland management techniques and apply Internet of Things technology in our projects to conserve ecological value.
