On 12 April, WWF-Hong Kong hosted our annual Flag Day on Hong Kong Island with a mission to raise funds to safeguard biodiversity. Hong Kong faces growing environmental challenges and protecting our biodiversity is an urgent task – our uniquely diverse city is home to lush countryside and marine habitats that support a multitude of species, many of which are at risk.

Flag days are public fundraising events that are vital helping us protect these rich, diverse natural ecosystems. Flag Day 2025 brought the wider community together, raising awareness and funds to directly support conservation initiatives like habitat restoration, species protection, environmental education, and more.

We gratefully acknowledge the 1,700 volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to this year’s event. Their commitment ensured the success of our 2025 Flag Day and highlighted the importance of collective action in protecting our city’s wildlife and ecosystems.

Support the Cause

This year’s Gold Flag stickers featured six emblematic species: Eurasian otter, Black-faced spoonbill, Chinese white dolphin, Golden coin turtle, Paradise fish, and Yellow pansy. They are symbols of the delicate balance that exists within Hong Kong’s ecosystems – a balance that is constantly in flux and in need of protection. Though Flag Day is over, you can still show your support for these species and WWF-Hong Kong’s conservation work by ordering Gold Flag stickers featuring these six species. This offer runs until 31 May 2025 – act now, your support will help protect these species and the many others that contribute to our city’s amazing biodiversity!
